Proverbs 27:20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. I believe there are some people, no matter what they have, they are never satisfied. Notice in our text it is the eyes of man that are never satisfied. Always wanting something more, something different. The scripture tells us that covetousness is idolatry! How is it that some are satisfied, content, and thankful while others are not? The secret is not found in the eyes but rather in the heart! When you realize that only the Lord Jesus can satisfy the inner man it has a tremendous effect on the outer man. It is impossible to love the Lord the way we should and love the world at the same time. 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. It is perfectly alright to have things, the problem arises when things begin to have you. Have you ever heard someone say… So heavenly minded that no earthly good? I believe those who walk the face of this earth with eternal things in mind are the ones that accomplish the most good for God’s glory. I sit today in a house that was built in 1963. We love our home. But I realize it’s not to be consuming my life. One day everything I’m looking at this morning will be left behind as I depart this old world. Only one life, will soon be past, only what’s done for Jesus will last! With that truth in our hearts, we can truly be satisfied. Amen. Pastor
