My Mighty Fortress!…

Psalm 18:2  The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. In Websters 1828 dictionary a fortress is defined as any fortified place, a fort, a castle, or a stronghold meant for defense or security.  The songwriter records… “The Lord is strong and mighty he is the king of glory he makes the devil’s forces to flee. Though winds may oft assail you the Lord will never fail you. A strong and mighty fortress is He.”  As believers, we have a place of refuge and security this world knows nothing about.  The scripture declares that our very life is hid with God in Christ!  There’s not a safer place in this world to be than in Christ.  Notice in our text how personal this relationship is.  The term MY is used over and over.  Jesus is MY ROCK,  MY DELIVERER, MY GOD, MY FORTRESS, MY STRENGTH,  MY BUCKLER, THE HORN OF MY SALVATION, and MY HIGH TOWER!  I am His and He is mine!  I’m not holding on to Him, He’s holding on to me!  I am His child!  Can you imagine leading a little child across a dangerous intersection?  You tell the little one to hold on.  No, no, no!  You would make sure that little one was secure.  You wouldn’t leave it up to them.  You may even pick them up and carry them across the street!  I’m glad, so glad, that the believer is in the Lord’s hand. His hand forms a mighty fortress around the child of God. Consider please… John 10:28-30 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.  I and my Father are one.  Are you in His hand?
If so, you can say He is my mighty fortress!  Amen.  Pastor
