Joshua 24:24 And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
J.K. Laney in his book “Marching Orders” tells this story… The great violinist, Niccolo Paganini willed his marvelous violin to city of Genoa on condition that it must never be played. The wood of such an instrument, while used and handled, wears only slightly, but set aside, it begins to decay. Paganini’s lovely violin has today become worm-eaten and useless except as a relic. A Christian’s unwillingness to serve may soon destroy his capacity for usefulness. God’s people are admonished in Romans 6:13 to yield themselves as instruments of righteousness. When we fail to yield and be a servant of the Lord we run the risk of becoming a dried up relic instead of a useful vessel! There is a saying in the fitness world concerning muscle… Use it or lose it! It should be the desire of every child of God to be used for His honor and His glory. Psalm 100 tells us to serve the Lord with gladness!
It ought to be an exuberating experience to know that we are the instruments in the hand of an almighty God that can make a difference in the world we live in. Allow the Lord to get you out of the case, tune you up, and make melody in your life that points others to Him. The day is soon coming when you will be glad you did! Amen. Pastor
