Acts 7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
Stephen was a great MAN!  The scripture declares that he was full of the Holy Ghost.  Men are not great because of their abilities, they are great because they walk with God.  Not only was Stephen a great man, but he had a great MESSAGE!  His message was one that exposed the sin of the people and exalted the Savior of mankind, the Lord Jesus. Now Stephen is being stoned to death.  The end of his life on earth is near.  Why was he not afraid?  He was not afraid because he had a great MASTER!  The Lord Jesus was standing at the Father’s right hand to welcome him home.  Because Stephen was a great man with a great master he was able to exhibit great MERCY!  Stephen prayed for those who were stoning him.  Lord, lay not this sin to their charge.  Remember this, Saul witnessed the whole thing!  I believe the mercy that Stephen exemplified left a mark in Saul’s heart.  On the road to Damascus Saul cried, “Who art thou Lord and what would you have me to do?”
