John 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  I recall the children singing… “The Devil is a sly old fox, I’d like to catch him and put him in a box, I’d lock the door and throw away the key,  for all those tricks he’s played on me!”  Many things have changed since God created Adam.  One thing has not!  The tricks of the devil are still the same.  He caused Eve to doubt God’s word,  and ultimately deny God’s word.  By doing so the entire human race was plunged into sin.  The devil to this day is using the same tactics.  The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, are all avenues used against us by ole slewfoot.
He always presents sin as a treat, when in reality it is a dirty trick!  The devil always paints a beautiful picture when alluring into sin.  He doesn’t play fair.  He wants to destroy our testimony and discourage us in our walk with the Lord.  When we cave in to his tricks we forfeit the joy of the Lord in our lives. Ask David.  The devil certainly is a sly old fox, as was Herod according to Jesus.   Just remember this, there is a Savior who knows well how to defeat the fox.  One day our Lord will put him a box for good.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.  Amen.  Pastor
