Trials that Grow and Show…

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Did you ever wonder how God could classify trials as precious?
More precious than gold actually!  Think for a moment how the Lord allows us to grow in the seasons of testing.  For years I have said you never know what you have in a friendship till it’s tested.  A friend loveth at all times!  Marriage relationships are tested.  How sweet it is to watch a relationships grow as it is tested.  I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather skip the trials of life!  Trials come, and trials go, only the Lord can help us to grow.  We will grow in grace and knowledge as we yield to Jesus in the trials of life.
Not only do trials grow us in our faith, they also show us, as well as others that our faith is real.  Real faith can withstand the test.  Paul was in a severe storm in Acts 27.  In the midst of the storm Paul got alone with God.  He then told the others to be of good cheer, for the Lord had assured him that every man would make it alive to shore.  Paul must have looked and sounded like a fool to those shipmen!  The trial actually showed what kind of faith the Apostle had.  The trial didn’t produce his faith, it revealed his faith.  Real faith will stand the test!  That’s why it is precious.
Just remember,  when the trials come, others are watching, it’s time to grow, and it’s time to show.  God never said all things are good, but He did say they are working together for good!
Why?  Because we love Him, and His purpose is being fulfilled,  even in the trials.  Amen.  Pastor
