Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Sometimes it just takes a little light to help us to see. My grandson went turkey hunting with me a couple years ago. His little toboggan had a small light attached. He was able to follow papaw thru the dark woods with that light. Without it, he would have stumbled and no doubt been left behind in the darkness.
Every child of God has the light of the world, Jesus, living on the inside of them. This world in so many ways is a dark place.
Good is being called evil, evil is being called good. The light that lives inside every Christian is what those walking in darkness need to see. Notice in our verse these words… let your light… this tells me it is not something that is automatic. We must endeavor to live our lives in such a way that others can see the light that’s on the inside reflected on the outside. The children are watching. The neighbors are watching. Our coworkers are watching. More importantly, Jesus is watching!
Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous…
With Thanksgiving and Christmas approaching, let’s determine to look for opportunities to let our light shine. In so doing, someone may discover who these seasons are really all about!
Amen. Pastor
