2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
Remember when Jesus talked to Thomas who had doubted our Lord’s resurrection? One thing I would like to emphasize… Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Faith is believing, trusting, and depending even though we cannot see! There is more to the Christian experience than just being saved. Peter tells us to add to our faith. Before I share some ways to add, guess what the enemy desires for you and me?
As surely as God wants to add to our faith, ole slewfoot wants to subtract from our faith. What if we viewed every church service as an opportunity to add to our faith? Every time we hear or read our Bible there is an opportunity to add to our faith. Even the deep dark valleys we walk through there are divine opportunities to add to our faith! Do you think Daniel’s faith was greater before or after the den of Lions? The three Hebrews… before or after the furnace? Joseph, before or after the prison? Even in adverse circumstances God is working that we might add to our faith. Trusting God in the difficulties of life is not easy, but it is rewarding. Jesus told Thomas, blessed are they that have not seen, yet believed!
Glory to God, I’m blessed! I wasn’t there when He created all things, but I believe! I wasn’t there to walk with Jesus, but I believe! I wasn’t there to see the miracles, but I believe! I wasn’t there for Calvary, but I believe! I wasn’t there when Jesus rose from the dead, but I believe! I wasn’t there when He ascended back to heaven, but I believe! Jesus said if I go I will come again! I believe, therefore I am blessed! What about you?
Are you adding to your faith?
If so, you are blessed as well!
Amen. Pastor
