Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Asking in prayer has to do with God giving to his children what they need. It gets even better…
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
I believe when we delight in Him our desires line up with His desires for our lives! 2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
No wonder the songwriter said Jesus is all I need! Truly we have not, because we ask not!
When God’s people are not delighting in Him, they are likely to ask amiss. Consider… Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Roy Lessin wrote…If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Savior. Why pray? God instructs us to pray! Not only that, a loving heavenly Father that gave His Son to save us is also waiting to give us all we need. Remember this, He knows what we need, He knows when we need it, SO ASK! Amen. Pastor
