John 15:13  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
A chaplain was speaking to a soldier on a cot in a hospital. “You have lost an arm in this great cause,” he said. “No,” said the soldier with a smile. “I didn’t lose it–I gave it.” In that same way, Jesus did not lose His life. He gave it purposefully.
Listen to the words of this old hymn…  I gave My life for thee, My precious blood I shed, That thou mightst ransomed be,  And quickened from the dead;
I gave, I gave My life for thee,What hast thou done for Me? I gave, I gave My life for thee, What hast thou done for Me?  In light of our Lord offering himself upon the cross of Calvary, is it too much to ask of you and me that we would surrender our will to our Lord.   Paul declares… in Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  Are we being conformed or transformed?  Lord help us.
