Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the wickedness that is prevalent in our society? It seems in every direction we look that sin is having a heyday. It was the same way in Noah’s day. But…
Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord! It was God’s grace that made the difference in Noah’s WALK! Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. It is true that we are outnumbered as God’s children in this world. Having found grace, we too should walk with God. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Noah found grace, this grace not only was evident in the way he walked, but also in the way Noah WORKED! Can you imagine working on that ark for 120 years? No doubt his work was mocked in those days by the wicked people surrounding him and his family. Remember Noah’s message… judgement is coming! They had never seen rain, but they were about to! This world has never seen one third of the earth’s vegetation on fire, one third of earth’s water turned to blood, or one hundred pound hail stones, but they’re about to. Judgement is coming! God’s grace made the difference in Noah’s walk, as well as his work.
One final thought, it was God’s grace that made the difference in Noah’s WORSHIP. Anyone who has ever experienced the grace of God in salvation has a desire in their heart to worship the Lord. Hear this from the Psalmist David… Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
Our Bible tells us there will be similarities between the days of Noah and the days when Jesus comes. Noah was outnumbered in the world for sure, and so are we, but the number that makes all the difference is the number ONE…
ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE Baptism! Glory to God! Outnumbered in the world, and still on the winning side! Amen. Pastor
