Proverbs 6:16-17 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, DL Moody said … “God sends no one away empty, except those who are full of themselves.” Our Lord hates pride, even if manifested in a proud look.
I recall the parable concerning the Pharisee and the Publican.
The Pharisee in his pride was boasting in his religion of do’s and dont’s. The Publican would not even look up toward heaven as he cried… God be merciful unto me a sinner. Jesus tells us that this attitude of humility was the reason the Publican went down to his house justified. The Pharisee in his pride would not acknowledge his need of mercy. Every man, woman, and child stands in need of Gods mercy. God’s mercy will never be received in pride, but rather in humility. Truly God resists pride, and ministers grace to the humble. James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Amen. Pastor
