James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Before we turn our attention to resisting, let’s examine for a moment what comes first. Submitting!  One thing I know for sure, in this world people are much more likely to resist submission than to resist the devil!  We live in an age of “My rights”
When you and I got saved we turned over the keys to “My rights” so that we could follow Jesus which “Is right!”  We are bought with a price.  Taking up our cross to follow Jesus requires denying ourselves.
Now, after we have submitted to our Lord,  we’re in a much better position to resist the devil!
After all, we’re going to have to have our Lord’s help in this battle.  We are more than conquerors… THROUGH HIM that loved us.  It doesn’t stop with resisting the devil,  we must also resist the flesh.  Our flesh is so full of pride it can never be brought into submission apart from the power of the Holy Spirit that lives in us.  We must also resist the pull of this world.  We are instructed to come out from among them, and be a seperate people.  God’s people are different,  not because we’re better than others, but because the difference maker lives inside us! Glory!  I’m not all that I should be or could be, but praise the Lord I’m not what I used to be!  With the Apostle Paul I can say… By the grace of God, I am what I am! By His grace I can RESIST the devil, RESIST the flesh, and RESIST the world. Hallelujah!
Amen.  Pastor
