Who Needs a Physician?…

Mark 2:17  When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.  The Pharisees were forever trying to create controversy and trap Jesus.   I can only imagine their demeanor as their crowds were thinning, and our Lord was being thronged by the multitudes.  In the verse above, Jesus was letting them know the truth of their situation.   They took issue with Jesus because he was a friend of sinners.   Our Lord was letting them know they didn’t feel like they needed him because they didn’t realize and admit the were sinners.  I don’t know about you, but I have to be pretty bad sick before I’ll call the Dr!  Thank God there came a day when I realized my sin sickness!  Falling on my knees, I asked the great physician for mercy!  And boy, oh boy, did he have mercy on me!  Have you ever seen yourself a poor, hell deserving sinner?   Our Lord said …Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden,  and you will find rest for your soul.
The Pharisees thought the Savior had no business befriending the lost people.  What they didn’t realize is they, too, needed a physician.  Sometimes you’ll call the Dr’s office, and the line will be busy. Other times, you’ll be put on hold.  No worries, Jesus is waiting for your humble cry.
Call on Him, you’ll be glad you did! Amen.  Pastor
