Time to Seek the Lord…

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.  Seeking the Lord will help us to sow right.  We must remember the law of the harvest… we reap what we sow, we reap after we sow, we reap more than we sow!  I’m reminded of a story my dad told me years ago.  It involved planting corn.  When the corn comes up, there will be some seeds that didn’t germinate,  and others that were snatched up by crows or other critters. He and his brother were to walk the rows in the field and plant a seed anywhere a sprout was missing.  They did fine for a while,  then they got hot and tired.  They got the bright idea to dig a hole at end of the field and get rid of the rest of the seed.  They forgot something… It was going to come up in plain sight and my grandpa was going to find out what they really did with the seed!  Wouldn’t we all be better off if we realized what we sow is gonna come up?  No wonder Hosea admonishes us to seek the Lord, and sow in righteousness.  Have you sown some bad seed in unrighteousness?  Guess what? You and I can seek the Lord and find mercy.  Better to seek him before we sow, but wonderful to know we can still seek him even if we’ve dug a hole at the end of the field!   By the way, dad assured me that he and his brother REAPED after they sowed.  And I’m not talking about corn!  Now you know the rest of the story. Amen. Pastor
