Acts 9:6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? There are many role models chosen in this generation. Some are movie stars, athletes, or men of prominence in society. Today, let’s take a look at the Apostle Paul. He is a good role model for the Christian who desires to find, follow, and finish God’s will for their life. In our text above, Paul finds God’s will when he encounters Jesus on the Damascus road. He asks this question… Lord, what would you have me to do? In order for Paul to FIND God’s will he had to swallow his pride, admit he was wrong, and inquire of the Lord concerning the next step. Have you personally been convicted of sin. Have you personally received the free gift of salvation? Have you personally made an effort to find God’s will for your life? The Lord shows Paul that he will be God’s messenger to the Gentiles and that he must suffer many things. Many would have turned back right then and there! Not Paul! Now he shares with us how to FOLLOW God’s will. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Following Jesus requires dying to self, walking by faith, and living for the Savior. This is a daily undertaking so that we as God’s children may FOLLOW God’s will for our life. Lastly, we see in scripture that the Apostle Paul not only found God’s will and followed God’s will, but he also FINISHED God’s will for his life.
Consider… 2 Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Many will never recall how we started on this journey with Jesus, but they will remember how we finish!
God help us to FIND, FOLLOW, and FINISH God’s plan for our lives. Oh, to hear Him say well done! Amen. Pastor
