2 Kings 5:1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. Naaman was an honorable man with a dreaded disease, leprosy. Leprosy works slowly and deliberately to destroy cartilage, nerve endings, and tendons till it eventually causes a person to lose parts of their body. Leprosy in the scripture is a type of sin. Sin also works slowly and deliberately to destroy the individual it controls. Consider please… Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; According to this passage we too apart from Christ are dead men walking. One of the worst parts concerning leprosy was the need to be isolated from society. A leper was required to keep their distance while proclaiming ” UNCLEAN, UNCLEAN.” I remember well the night Jesus spoke to me concerning my sin, my uncleanness if you please. I too was a dead man walking. There were several things that overwhelmed me that night. One was this, though the Lord knew how unclean I was, He still loved me. There was a desperation in my heart to be forgiven, to be clean. The individual that rejects God’s cure for sin will be separated for eternity from the Lord and His people. Not only separated, but unclean for eternity. Consider… Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. It is too late for mercy when an individual leaves this walk of life without Jesus. We will encounter people often who are dead men walking. Will we share the cure for sin? Life is short, death is sure, sin the cause, Christ the cure! Amen. Pastor
