When it doesn’t make sense…

Exodus 16:22-23 And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.  And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
God fed the children of Israel with manna in the wilderness.   Any other day of the week than the sixth day the manna would spoil if they tried to hoard it up. God told them to gather twice as much on the sixth day only, that they may rest on the 7th day, the sabbath.  I’m sure some of the children of Israel couldn’t make sense of this.  Why would twice as much only profit them on the sixth day?  Answer… BECAUSE GOD SAID SO!
A vital part of the Christian life is learning to trust God even when it doesn’t make sense.  I know, easier said than done!  Marching around Jericho six times and shouting on the seventh lap didn’t make sense.   However, Joshua and the children of Israel obeyed and the walls fell down… all except the section where Rahabs living quarters were.  Why?
Because God said so! It is always better to obey God than men, even when it makes no sense.  May the Lord help us to trust His heart, even when we can’t track His hand!  Amen. Pastor
