Comfort in Knowing…

Genesis 5:29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.  This is the first mention of the word comfort in scripture.  Let’s take a look at what Noah reflected not only in his name, but in his life.  Noah could take comfort in knowing he had found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  He could take comfort by walking in faith.  Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
He could take comfort in knowing God had provided a way for him and his family to escape the judgement that was coming on the earth.  God’s warning of impending judgement was to be believed and taken seriously.  He could also take comfort in knowing all the work that went into building ark would be well worth it in the end.  Our God is the God of all comfort!  Have you received God’s warning?  If so, take comfort.  Are you in the ark of safety, the Lord Jesus?  If so, take comfort.  Have you become the heir of righteousness which is by faith?
If so, take comfort.  Have you seperated from the world?   If so, take comfort.   Will you escape the tribulation that is coming on this world?  If so, take comfort.  Our Lord comforts us, that we may comfort others.  In Noah’s day the world was in a mess.  In our day the same is true.  Take comfort,  the King is coming!  Are you ready?  Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.  Amen.  Pastor
