A Blessing or a Curse…

Deuteronomy 11:27-28 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God… Life is full of choices, some much more important than others.  In our text today, Moses is delivering a message from God to the children of Israel concerning a choice set before them.  Obedience will produce blessing,  disobedience results in a curse.  Joshua said, choose you :”this day” whom ye will serve.
Notice this verse… Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record “this day” against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:  Something caught my attention here… the little phrase “This day”.  Both Joshua and Moses emphasize a choice to be made “this day.”  Perhaps you have made poor choices in the past,
that can change THIS DAY!  To trust Christ as Savior and Lord is to be forgiven and freed from the bondage of sin.  To then walk in obedience is to experience untold blessings as we fellowship with God and His people.   No wonder Paul said… “I die daily.”  THIS DAY we must make a conscious decision to deny ourselves and obey the Lord.  Not yesterday,  not tomorrow,  THIS DAY.  Something else that caught my attention… Joshua made his choice… As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!
Joshua’s choice affected his home!  In the verse above in Deuteronomy Moses writes… that thou AND THY SEED may live.  God is letting us know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our choices affect our children.  Let’s determine “this day” to obey the Lord, that we might have His blessings in our hearts as well as our homes.
Amen.  Pastor
