A momentous mountain top…

Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,  This was an experience these three disciples would never forget!  Let’s examine a few things that makes this mountain top special.  First, it took effort to get to this place.
It was a high mountain.  I’ve noticed something in life, it takes much longer to get your heart rate up walking on level ground than climbing a mountain.   It takes much, much, more effort to go the same distance while climbing a mountain.  If we were to ask Peter, James,  and John they would say… It was worth it!
Not too many are willing to pay the price. It’s hard work!  Next, notice that Jesus led them to this place.  He bringeth them, to a high mountain,  APART!  Apart from the crowds, apart from the cares of life.  We could have many more mountain tops if we would only learn to come apart, and have some alone time with the Master!  Now consider this, they got to hear and see things no one else did.  Jesus was transfigured before them.  They heard the Father’s voice from Heaven.   No wonder Peter said… Lord,  it is good for us to be here!  How long has it been since you followed Jesus to that solitary place?  How long since He spoke to you in that still small voice?  God is no respector of persons.  We may never witness in this life what the disciples did, but we surely can enjoy His peace as well as His presence!  Our Lord is inviting you and me today…
Come apart and rest awhile in His presence.   One preacher said  we must come apart, so we won’t come apart!  One day we shall see Him in all of His glory, until then, head on up the mountain by faith, joy is awaiting you!  Amen.  Pastor
