Descending the Mountain, with a Mission in mind…

Luke 9:37 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.  Yesterday,  we spoke of the momentous occasion with Jesus and His disciples on the mountain.  It would be nice in a way if we could stay on the mountain,  but anyone who has lived for Jesus knows it doesn’t work that way!  You see, we need the mountain tops, in order to carry out the mission in the valley.  When they descended from the mountain there were people who needed help. A man’s son was a lunatic.
He was desperate for help.  Do you know that you and I encounter people everyday that are desperate for help.  Some people are aware of their desperation while others are not.  The songwriter said… People need the Lord.   Our time on the mountain with Jesus is to prepare us for our time in the valley helping others.  We must not find ourselves as the disciples,  faithless and powerless.  Jesus told His disciples this kind of faith comes by prayer and fasting.  It is imperative that we spend time alone on the mountain with Jesus that we may in turn be able to help those we encounter when we come down from the mountain top.  The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  He helps us, that we might be a help to others.  Spend time on the mountain with the Master, remembering there’s a mission to be fulfilled in the valley.  Amen.  Pastor
