Mark 1:22  And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.  In days gone by there was a commercial on TV concerning a firm of financial advisors call EF Hutton.  Their slogan was “When EF Hutton speaks, people listen.”  Great multitudes followed Jesus when He was here on earth.  There were several reasons.  Some followed because they were amazed at our Lord’s ability to heal diseases.  Others followed because they wanted to see miracles, like the feeding of the 5,000 with five loaves and two fishes.  Still some followed with the intent to find some fault or trap Jesus in His words, yet some were wise enough to understand that Jesus was different.   He was more than a religious zealot like the Scribes and the Pharisees!  When Jesus spoke His words were weighty, He spake with authority!  When we share God’s word we should do so with authority.  In Titus 2:15 we find… These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.  This passage follows… Looking for that blessed hope… Jesus is coming!  Those who reject the authority of God’s word will be in trouble.  Share the Word of God,  it is the only hope for a lost and dying world.
Jesus spake with the authority of Heaven because He was sent from the Father.  You and I can do the same when we realize we too have been first saved, and then sent on a mission from heaven.  We are to be ambassadors for Christ.  John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.  Those who are saved,  are also sent!  What a joy to represent our Heaven and the King of Kings, as we live here on earth.  Amen.
