Bound to thank God…

2 Thessalonians 1:3  We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.
The word bound in our text means that which is due, the debt, the goodwill due.  Paul in another text says…  Romans 1:14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
The Apostle here in Romans is speaking of his debt to preach the gospel to them.  In Thessalonians he is speaking of his debt to thank God for them.
The dear Lord has put precious people in the path of the Apostle Paul and he has developed a case of the ” Can’t help it’s!”  He can’t help but thank God when he thinks of the church at Thessolonica!  As a pastor for soon fourty years, I can’t help but thank the Lord for the precious people he has allowed me to pastor.  So many wonderful memories!  So much to thank the Lord for!  The Church would truly benefit from the Apostles example.  Are there people in your life that you are bound to thank God for?  Thank HIM today, find someone and thank THEM for the blessing they have been in your life.  Years ago I battled an infection on a yearly basis.   A microscope revealed the bad cells were TNTC.  One day I asked the doctor what those initials meant.  He told me “Too Numerous To Count.”  Well, on the other hand,  speaking of the blessings that my Lord has given me through His people, a good way to describe it would be… “Too Numerous To Count!”
Amen. Pastor
