2 Kings 5:3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. In verse two of this chapter we find a little maid who waited on Naaman’s wife. Our text tells of her message of HOPE. Naaman had leprosy. This little maid understood there was a God who could heal, and a man of God who could help! Elisha tells the King to send Naaman to him. When Naaman gets to Elisha’s house the man of God does not come out to greet him. This made Naaman quite furious! A message was sent by Elisha to Naaman to dip seven times in the Jordan river. Naaman thinks another method or another river would be so much better. Isn’t that the way it is today? A man realizes he has a sin… aka leprosy problem… he is instructed in God’s word to repent of sin, and believe on the Savior! Trust Jesus in order to go to Heaven? Why, there’s got to be more to it than that! Listen to Paul’s response to the Philippian jailer… Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
The jailer believed the message of Hope! Now his entire family gets in on it as well! Many have complicated the way of Salvation. It all boils down to what you do with this man called Jesus. Receive Him and go to Heaven. Reject Him and go to Hell. Neither is there salvation in any other! Jesus said I am the way! We are swiftly approaching Easter Sunday. He lives! Because He lives we can live also! What a message of HOPE! A little maid proclaimed a message of hope to a leper, reckon we could do the same for a poor lost sinner? We can, we should, and by God’s good grace, we will. Amen. Pastor
