Hebrews 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  Every weight is not a sin, but every sin is a weight!  How can we overcome?  Let’s look into Hebrews 12…  We can overcome by LOOKING unto Jesus!  Look in His Word.  Look as we Worship.   Look at His blessings.   Then we can overcome the weights and sins by LOVING Jesus!  The scripture tells us here to consider Him, the one who bled and died for our sin.  We love Him because He first loved us!  Greater love hath no man, He gave His life that we might live.  And lastly, we can overcome as we realize we are LOVED by Jesus!  This chapter goes on to explain chastisement.   Do you know why the Lord chastises His children?  Because He LOVES us!  Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
That’s the whole idea of laying aside the weight, as well as the sin… that we might exhibit His righteousness, which has been imputed to every born again believer.
