Living Epistles…

2 Corinthians 3:2  Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.  Paul in adressing the church at Corinth wanted them to know that their life was like an open book.  The word epistle means a written message, or a letter.  We may not realize it, but we are sending out a message to others as we live out our lives down here.  Jude tells us to make a difference, and to have compassion,  pulling them out of the fire.
The way we live out our lives could literally impact another for eternity.  Carrol Roberson sang a song that makes the point well. “I want the people to see Jesus in me.”  Christ in us, the hope of Glory!  When others read the message being written of our lives, does it reflect God’s goodness,  God’s grace, and God’s mercy?  Does the message in our epistle point others to a Savior that loves them and gave himself for them?  Are we actively trying to pull others out of the fire, or does our life push them away from the Father?  In scripture,  there is no neutral,  no middle ground.
Consider please what Jesus said… Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.  This is strong language, I know.
May God help us to gather, not scatter.  Amen.  Pastor
