There are 2 verses I would like to share on this subject. Ephesians 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; In this verse we find that a truly humble, or lowly spirit, will tolerate some things just because we love one another. It is pride that believes that only others make mistakes!
When we are quick to retaliate we are not exhibiting lowliness. A humble spirit will consider others before ourselves. It will also acknowledge it is the grace of God that we are not doing the same thing that is bothersome to us. Notice now…
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Have you ever been around strife? The tension is so thick in the air you could cut it with a knife! That’s what happens when pride overtakes humility. We have to be right! Truly vainglory
is something we must guard against. We should never care who gets the credit as long as God gets the glory! After all, he is the only one worthy. We can do nothing apart from our dear Lord who enables us. Listen to Paul… 1 Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; No wonder he was so mightily used of the Lord. Notice his attitude… sinners… I’m the chief! Saints… I am less than the least! That, my friend, is lowliness exemplified! Amen. Pastor
