1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. Settle… To determine what is uncertain; to establish; to free from doubt; as, to settle questions. When we face events in our lives that are deeply unsettling, as Christians it would benefit us greatly to remember a few things. First we must always remember that our God is a GRACIOUS God! He’s the God of all grace! Get that settled in your heart and mind. Next, remember that our God is a GOOD God! God is good, all the time! That doesn’t mean everything we face is good, but rather in the midst of the bad, we need to be settled on the fact that God is good. Job’s testimony reflects this truth. Lastly, it would behove God’s people to always remember that just as God is always gracious, always good, He is always RIGHT as well. One man said humorously… I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken. Our Lord is always right! He is never mistaken! Recalling these truths in our sufferings will help us immensely to be settled in our hearts and minds, even in unsettling situations. Amen. Pastor
