2 Timothy 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  God’s word is declared to be inspired as well as profitable!  Here are some of the ways put forth in our text that we can profit by reading and heeding the Word of God.
God’s book is profitable for doctrine.  Doctrine is defined as that which is taught, or precepts.  Simply put, God’s inspired word teaches us WHAT’S RIGHT!  Not only does the Bible teach us what’s right, it also teaches us WHAT’S NOT RIGHT!  This is where reproof comes in. Paul instructed Timothy to “preach the word, reprove, rebuke, exhort.”  We are living in a generation where not too many will receive reproof or rebuke.  If we only knew these things are to help us in our walk with God.  We have a wonderful Savior,  those He loves He rebukes and chastises.  Next in our verse we find God’s word is profitable for correction.  Correction could be stated as HOW TO MAKE IT RIGHT!  Some things are easier to correct than others!  I have found that we as humans don’t often take kindly to being corrected.  Correction is for our good as well as God’s glory!  Lastly, God’s word is profitable for instruction in righteousness!
Instruction could be described as HOW TO STAY RIGHT!  Every born again believer desires to stay right with God.  For years I have said the Bible doesn’t need to be fixed,  we don’t need a new Bible,  for the Bible is not broken, we are!  We need to get in God’s book and allow it fix us!  No wonder the Apostle Paul said in… Acts 20:20  And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,  This simply means that Paul preached “What saith the Lord.”  That is what is profitable for Gods people!  Nuff said!
