John 16:13 Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:…
Let’s picture the Christian life as going for a ride with Jesus.
Greyhound bus lines used to have a commercial that said… ” Ride the bus and leave the driving to us!” The question is this… Is Jesus the driver or the passenger in your life? Does he have the steering wheel? Is He the one directing your path in life? Proverbs says “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path!” Are you and Jesus fighting over the steering wheel? That, my friend, will cause a wreck! What about the gas pedal and the brake? Is the Lord the one telling you when to go and when to stop?
Go into all the world! Be still and know that I am God! Are you familiar with these words from the scripture? There’s the gear shift, drive, reverse, neutral, and park. Are you in control of the gear shift or have you committed it to the heavenly driver? Now, what about the emergency brake?
Are you sensitive enough to the Holy Spirit to know when He says NO! Don’t do it! Don’t you think it would be better to scoot over and allow the Lord to drive? I’m afraid in most people’s lives He’s a passenger at best. May God help us all to slide over and let Him drive. After all… Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Amen. Pastor
