Speaking of Courage…

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.  Humble as a Lamb, bold as a Lion!   There is someone who instantaneously comes to mind… Jesus!  Oh, to be more like Him.  He is the Lamb of God.  He alone can take our sins away.  Though he was God’s Lamb in humility, think about the courage it took to stand up to Herod, the Saducees, and the Pharisees.  At one point, our Lord made a scourge of small cords and drove them out of the temple!  Yet at another point, the enemy scourged Him and drove nails in His hands and feet as He was paying our sin debt at Calvary.  Don’t you think because of this, you and I should be able to muster up enough courage to stand for Him, to speak of Him, and to serve Him?  What a shame it would be to cower in the face of criticism and adversity after all He has done for us!  I heard a story of a man who was holding up the tail of a lion. Some said my, what courage, another said why didn’t you cut the lion’s head off instead… he responded… someone had already done that!  There are mighty men and women in the faith that have blazed the trail, some even giving their lives rather than denying Jesus.   God help us in this generation to stand, and having done all, to stand.  Our Lord is coming back, not as a Lamb, but as the Lion of the tribe of Judah!  Whose side will He find you on?  The answer is more than mere words. The answer is found in the deeds of every one of us. Amen. Pastor
