The Fear of the Lord…

Psalm 34:11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.  Let’s look at some of the evidence in Psalm 34 that are a result of fearing the Lord.  In verse 1, we find…I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.  When an individual fears the Lord, he will desire to praise the Lord for His goodness towards His people.  God is good, ALL THE TIME! ON TIME! EVERY TIME!  Show me someone who can praise the Lord in the valleys of life, and I’ll show you someone who fears the Lord!  David did! Job did! Paul and Silas did!  Years ago, I heard a song… Thank you for the valley, I walk through today.  The individual that wrote that song can relate to another song… The God on the mountain,  He’s still God in the valley…  the God of the day, He’s still God in the night!  Not only will there be PRAISE and adoration in the Christian’s life that fears God,  there will also be HUMILITY.
Listen to verse 2… My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.  The opposite of humility is pride.  Lucifer, in his pride, rebelled against God in Heaven, why, because he did not fear God.  When an individual is boasting in themselves, or on their accomplishments,  that is a sign that the fear of God is not what it should be.  David was king of Israel,  but he was humble.  He had accomplished a lot for the kingdom of God, but he chose to boast IN THE LORD!  It is the Lord that is responsible for everything good in us.  It is he that hath made us, not we ourselves!  Walk humbly with your Lord, bless His name!
Your life will be filled with evidence that you love Him and fear Him.  Amen.  Pastor
