The Fear of the Lord…

Psalm 34:11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.  According to this verse, the fear of the Lord is something that can be taught.  This is coming from David, the man after God’s own heart.   Let’s look first at the exhortation to fear the Lord.
Ps 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.  David is encouraging us to magnify the Lord… With him!  It is important to note that God never intended for us to go it alone but exhorts us to yoke up with others who fear the Lord as well.  Someone has well said… ” The crowd you run with will determine the course your life takes.”  This is so true.  A believer can find themselves in a precarious situation when they find themselves among those who have absolutely no fear of God before their eyes.  Romans 3:18  There is no fear of God before their eyes.  Among these individuals… anything goes!  There are no absolutes.   Just remember this, when you fear the Lord, there are absolutes!
What God said is wrong is ABSOLUTELY wrong!  What God says is right is ABSOLUTELY right!  Black n white for the God-fearing, dull shade of grey for those who do not fear the Lord.
Who are your friends?  For the believer,  a true friend is one that is helping you in your walk with God, not hindering.  Good question to evaluate relationships… Helping? Hindering?  The answer is serious. Amen.  Pastor
