Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. 
Hummingbirds and  buzzards can both be seen in the sky here where I live. The buzzards see the rotting meat, because that is what they look for. They thrive on that diet.  Hummingbirds, however,  ignore the smelly flesh of dead animals. Instead, they look for the colorful blossoms of flowers and plants. The buzzards live on what was. They live on the past. They feast on what is dead and gone. But hummingbirds thrive on what is. They seek new life. They fill themselves with freshness and life. Each bird finds what it is looking for.  Those who are constantly living in the past are not likely to be found rejoicing in the present.  Our spiritual well being is largely determined by our spiritual diet.  If we are constantly indulging in that which is rotten we will overlook the blessings and benefits that our Lord gives each and every day.  The scripture tells us that our God daily loads us with benefits!  My dear wife has a hummingbird feeder on the corner of the porch.  She puts sugar water in it.  It is a joy to watch the little hummingbirds fly in and out n sip on the sweetness!  Guess what? I’ve never seen a buzzard that was interested in the sweet water.  Our lives as Christians will reflect what we’ve been feeding on!  Consider please… Psalm 119:103  How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!  May the Lord help us this day to find honey in His word.  Perhaps then we would be much more like the hummingbirds!  Perhaps then we could honestly say… My Lord has given me this day, I’m gonna rejoice and be glad in it!
If we resemble a buzzard, always picking at something dead, others will notice.  If we resemble the hummingbird, feeding on the freshness of God’s word, others will notice as well.  The choice is ours today.  Amen.  Pastor
