Tools for the tool box…

2 Peter 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Years ago my Dad and I were in business as general contractors.   I remember well how important it was to have the necessary tools at hand on any particular job.  It was very frustrating to lose, or misplace a tool that was needed.   In the child of Gods life Peter tells us we have everything we need to live a Godly life.  The tool belt for the Christian contains several vital tools… perhaps the most important tool is the Bible!
Then to go along with the Word of God there must needs be prayer. When these two tools are oiled up and working properly it is a blessing for sure!
Oil in the scripture is a type of the precious Holy Spirit.
When tools are not used, they tend to get rusty, especially when exposed to the elements.
A little oil goes a long way in such a case.  The right tools in the right condition will accomplish very little if they remain unused.  So, get the Bible down and use it!  Study, pray, share what you’ve learned with others.  That’s the Godly life.  We have all the tools we need. Amen.  Pastor
