Being Mindful…

Romans 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  Many will wake up today and spend the entire day without having one spiritual thought.  How sad!  We as Christians fight a battle between the carnal and the spiritual.  The disciples could not understand that Jesus was about to die because they were only concerned with the temporal things.  Right here, right now!  That is no way to live.  We are to set our affections on things above.  Consider this verse if you want to have a spiritual mind…
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.   The carnal mind is the enemy of God and his plan for his people.  We renew our minds, our thought processes, if you please, by looking into God’s book!  When we consider time and then consider eternity, does it not make sense to devote our energy and time to those things that will make a difference forever.  I was once told… you’re so heavenly minded you’re no earthly good. At the time, the statement stung me!  Later when I found out what was going on in that person’s life, I discovered the problem was not a heavenly minded pastor, but an earthly minded individual that the preaching of God’s word was rubbing the wrong way!  A former pastor at Bible Way had a saying… If that rubs your fur the wrong way… turn the cat around!  God uses his word and prayer to get us from a state of being carnally minded to a state of being spiritually minded.  Help us, oh Lord. Amen.  Pastor
