Galatians 3:1
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?  Here is Strongs definition for bewitched…to malign, to fascinate (by false representations):—bewitch.
The Judiasers in Galatia were trying to bring the Christians back under the law.  The scripture teaches us that the purpose of the law was to prove us guilty of sin, that we might flee to Christ for forgiveness.  It is faith in Christ that sets us free!  Every religion in the world falls under one of two umbrellas,  works or grace.  The works religion says do, do, do, and you will be saved.   Grace however does not teach us to do, do, do, in order to be saved. Grace teaches us that it is done, done, done!  It is not what we do that saves us from sin, it is what Jesus did at Calvary that delivers the sinner.  He died for our sin, and was raised again for our justification.  The person that bypasses the cross, and teaches others to do the same, is bewitched.  You might be thinking pastor, don’t you believe in good works? I sure do!  Here’s the difference,  good works under grace and in the life of the believer are present because we have been saved.  The bewitched crowd has it backwards.  They think their salvation is because of their good works.  If good works would save you and me then pray tell me why did Jesus have to die?  Let me illustrate… when I was growing up I soon realized it was wise to obey my father.  Did I obey him so someday he would be my father? I think not! I obeyed him because he was my father!  And I quickly learned the consequences of disobedience by the way!  I want my life to be filled with good works, but I know it is not so the God of Heaven might someday be my Father, but rather because He already is my Heavenly Father through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.  The Phillippian jailer asked… Sirs, what must I do to be saved.  The answer was clear… Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved!  He believed, THEN he went to work, washing the stripes on Paul and Silas’ back.  That’s the correct order.  Don’t be bewitched by false doctrine.  Amen.  Pastor
