John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
I have known many people who believe that a person can be lost AFTER they are saved. No doubt there are many in the world who were never genuinely saved to begin with. Jesus told the Pharisees… “Search the scriptures, for in them ye THINK ye have eternal life…” The Bible does not teach a “Think so” salvation, but rather a “Know so.” 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Consider a few questions if you are on the fence considering losing one’s salvation. First, what is the gift of God? Secondly, when does an individual receive the gift of God? According to Romans 6:23 the gift of God is eternal life through Jesuus Christ our
Lord. According to John this life is in Christ and if you have the Son you have eternal life.
1 John 11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
So, the moment a person receives Christ, he receives eternal life. Lastly, if a person receives eternal life, and something or someone could take that away, was it eternal to begin with? Consider please…
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. I too, am persuaded, are you? Jesus said… “I give unto them eternal life and they shall NEVER PERISH.”
That settles it, for our Lord cannot lie! We have His word on it! Eternal life is in the person of the Savior, not the performance of the saints.
Amen. Pastor
