2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. The Apostle Paul reveals some very important truths in this verse. We cannot afford as Christians to neglect the inward man. Those who do will soon faint spiritually. Many today would not dare miss a trip to the gym to work out. They are very disciplined concerning the outward man, yet the inward man is weak and in need of exercise. Exercise thyself rather unto Godliness is Paul’s instruction to Timothy. The body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. It is right to exercise and try to be healthy. Just remember this, the outward man at best is still perishing. It would behoove God’s dear people not to neglect the eternal while placing too much emphasis on the temporal. Spiritual exercise produces strength and stamina. Nehemiah tells us the joy of the Lord is our strength! Focusing only on those things that are temporary is a sure way to become weak spiritually and lose your joy. Ask David! Ask any child of God that has become consumed with the things of this world. We are to love God and our neighbor, not the things of the world. It’s perfectly alright to have things, but it becomes very detrimental when things have you! Where is your focus today? Are you neglecting spiritual exercise?
Have you lost your joy? Are you about to faint spiritually? STOP!
Take a few minutes to read God’s word and talk to Him. He’s waiting to strengthen you.
If we know to do good and don’t do it, it is sin. May the Lord help us this day to be strengthened by His might in the inner man. Amen. Pastor
