Amos 3:8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy? Charles Haddon Spurgeon said… “Scripture is like a lion. Whoever heard of defending a lion?” The Word of God need not be defended, but it must be proclaimed in order to accomplish it’s purpose in the hearts and lives of men. A lion, if kept in a cage, is no danger and has no power over the onlookers. But let the lion loose, outside the cage, and you will see the strength, speed, and power of this magnificent creature! A person may not fear the roar of the lion while he is in captivity, but turn him loose and it will be a much different outcome! Now think for a moment about God’s Word. Was it meant to be confined to four church house walls? Or was it meant to be shared in the highways and byways with a lost and dying world? Scripture teaches the latter! Perhaps one reason we are not seeing the power of God’s word displayed in our generation is because it is confined, caged up if you please, inside the church house! It’s a new year. There will be many opportunities for God’s dear people to let the lion of God’s Word roar in this old sinful world. Perhaps the reason there’s not much fear of God in the world these days is because the LION is caged. Read the verse. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord hath spoken, who will listen to His voice and carry His word to others in need? Isaiah said… Here am I, send me. Amen. Pastor
