What Kind of Tree is That?

Matthew 12:33  Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.  Years ago I had a man teach me the difference between a Chestnut Oak, White Oak, and a Red Oak tree.  I wanted to know because I hunt deer. There are differences in the bark and the leaves, but the easiest way to tell the difference is in the acorns that drop from the tree.
The red oak acorn is small, generally round, and have a bitter taste about them.  The white oak acorns are longer, and have no bitterness in them. The Chestnut oak acorns are double the size of the others.  I learned that deer much prefer the white oak acorns over the others.   Our text tells us that the tree is known by its fruit.  Ephesians 5:9  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
When others see the fruit in your life, can they easily discern what kind of tree you are by the fruit that is evidenced in your life?   Jesus is the vine, we are the branches,  there should be the fruit of God’s Spirit dangling from every branch that belongs to Him.  What kind of tree are you?   Something to think about. Amen.  Pastor
